For us, impact isn’t an afterthought; it’s the driving force behind all we do.
While we do our best to guide you, our travelers, in becoming more empathetic global citizens and stewards, we know it’s also important to put our money where our mouth is. That’s why we set aside funds every year to give to vetted projects, programs, and/or organizations doing real, measurable good in the world. Below you will find some of those causes.
The Hero Travel Fund honors extraordinary people who make a meaningful difference in their communities. Each year, we gift a fully customized, mindful travel experience to one individual who inspires, uplifts, and serves others with heart. It’s our way of saying thank you — and giving heroes the chance to rest, reconnect, and rediscover themselves.
Explorer X launched the Hero Travel Fund in 2025.
1% for the Planet is a global movement uniting businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions. Members commit to donating at least one percent of annual revenue to vetted nonprofits working to protect ecosystems, combat climate change, and restore the natural world.

Founded by businesses in the adventure travel and outdoor industries, the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF) is dedicated to protecting threatened communities, cultures, and wild places to preserve their cultural and recreational integrity. Our members are adventure travel and outdoor industry leaders who advocate for and support projects that allow sustainable adventure tourism to grow into the future.
Explorer X has been a proud member of the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund since 2023.
The Transformational Travel Institute funds research, education, and community projects that deepen the capacity of travel to foster wellbeing, peace, and eco-consciousness. We advance destination stewardship, transformative experience design, and regenerative development across the tourism industry, with a commitment to equitable access for people and places worldwide.
Explorer X co-founders Michael Bennett and Jake Haupert helped launch TTI in 2024.
Since 2009, The Long Run has worked at the intersection of nature conservation and sustainable tourism. Rooted in the vision that tourism can create lasting prosperity for people living on a healthy, resilient planet, they support a global community of tourism industry change-makers dedicated to accelerating positive impact through conservation, community, culture, and commerce.
